Financing Business Opportunities Along the Value Chain

EMRC hosted the Africa Finance & Investment Forum 2008 in Paris, 7-9 December.  The forum focused on the latest investment and financing opportunities on the African continent.

The event gathered a global spread of participants with over 50% from Africa. EMRC is working with development agencies, business schools, commercial banks and other financial institutions to offer the best platform to match the demands for investment in Africa with worldwide investors .

To help spur growth and develop entrepreneurial skills the forum featured the Project Incubator Award - a joint EMRC-Rabobank initiative to encourage more professional and bankable project proposals from Africa.

Expert speakers included:

José Briosa e Gala, Personal representative for Africa to the President of the European Comission;
Anne Gazeau-Secret Director General for International Cooperation and Development, French Ministry for Foreign Affairs;
Jacques Attali economist, Chair of President Sarkozy's Economic Modernisation Commission, France;
Loïc Sadoulet, Director of the Africa Initiative, INSEAD Business School, France;
John Mullins, London Business School; Bart Jan Krouwel, MD CSR Rabobank Netherlands; Pierre Van Hedel, MD Rabobank Foundation and Michel Clavé, Head of Agriculture & Agrifood, Crédit Agricole, France.
