To encourage development, innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa, EMRC and the African Development Bank (AfDB) presented the EMRC- AfDB Project Incubator Award to the project judged to have the greatest economic and social impact on local communities.

The Africa Finance & Investment Forum 2009 Project Incubator Award (sponsored by the African Development Bank) winner was Derekorp of Uganda.

Derek Kwesiga, founder and CEO of Derekorp in Uganda, received the US$ 15.000 EMRC-AfDB Project Incubator Award.
